We're Moving

After almost six years, we are going to leave our first house and move out to the West Side. We've been building a place out in West Fayetteville and we're so excited to be moving. However, I am so stinking sentimental and I will miss this house like crazy. It has been such a great house, so many memories and firsts will be missed.

Our first house holds these memories: first snowman, first firework show seen from the backyard, bringing our dog, Allie, home from Lavaca, ice storms, baby showers, wedding showers, our shady neighbors and the stabbing next door, seeing Old Main from our back yard, walking to IGA during snow storms to rent movies, walking around Olive/Prospect/Washington, bringing Thomas home to this house ... That alone will make this an historical landmark in my mind.

I think the reason I'm so attached to this place is because I lived in the same house my entire life. From what I hear, that is pretty unusual. It rocked though. So, I went to college and have lived in a whole bunch of different places and even overseas before we got married and found this place. Why so Sandy Sentimental? Great question. I've come to grips with the fact that the answer is that I'm a sucker for nostalgia. So dang melancholy.

I totally do not get those people who are not, by the way. I've saved almost every ticket to every show I've been to since I was like 14 years old (Soul Asylum, Screaming Trees, The Samples, SP's, Robert Plant). I save books I've read and either never plan to read again or think, I'll read that one more time. I save clothes, partially because there is the hope of fitting into them again after having babies, and because I think, I'll throw some long-sleeve t-shirt underneath it and give it a whole new look. It's absurd, I know.

So, say goodbye with me. Come visit the new place in April. Oh, and we will have superb new owners (Rob & Paige Grunagle) as well, which does ease the pain of leaving just a bit. I have no doubt they will walk to IGA after snow storms.

Good to hear from you again. It's been awhile since I have been at Bible Study. That's exciting that you guys are building a house. How fun!! How is Thomas doing?? How is motherhood and staying at home?
Take care!!

It was good to see you today. Thomas is so sweet and I can't believe how big he is getting! It would be great to get together sometime.....maybe for lunch or something.
Let me know....

You can't leave out the garage sale where the lady stripped down and started trying on clothes! That had to have been a first of something!
