So, I've Decided To Start a Bucket List

I just went to my first writing workshop last week. The leader of the group is a professor at a local college and we'd only spoken on the phone. When I walked through the door, I thought I'd know no one. It was a small group and as we took turns being introduced, I noticed that I did know someone. Well, sort of.

I'd met Tom several years ago and he was surprised I remembered him. He'd cut his long gray ponytail, I'd noted, but that wasn't what gave him away. He wears an eye-patch. I mean, how many people do you know that wear an eye-patch?

Anyway, he was telling us that he was about to take a trip to Austin with a buddy to mark one of his bucket list; see all the Presidential libraries. That got me thinking, what a cool thing to have on your bucket list, ya know? So, I've decided to start my own bucket list. I thought of my first one tonight while half-way watching Clint Eastwood in The Unforgiven with Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman and many other great actors from my parents' generation.

Clint and Morgan were riding tall across the old West, on horseback, of course, and with the sun high, cowboy hats donned, they galloped across a stream and onto their destination to set up camp for the night. I've ridden horses before and I don't know why, but, I thought, I'm going to do that one day. So, that's the first thing on my bucket list:

1. Ride a horse through a body of water. (A stream will do just fine, but a river would be cool).

Milton,
If you can, ride a horse through a body of water deep enough that the horse has to swim. I didn't even know horses could swim, but they are actually pretty good. I had the chance once and it is pretty cool to feel a horse doing the breast stroke underneath you.

EAV- Please don't think I'm ridiculous for suggesting this but, if you haven't already, you should check out The Buried Life on MTV(new series). You will be even more inspired if take a sec to read about how these cool guys got started doing their documentary (that MTV later turned into a show). And seeing the guys help others mark things off their 'list' well, that's just the warm fuzzy bonus you get from watching this already amazing, unbelievably cool show.

Jason, I would totally dig that. Not surprised at all that you've done that, too. Was it Brazil?

Lynn, I haven't seen that show! I could use some dudes who have the 'git-er-done' mentality to help inspire me, though!
