Summer's Godness?

I, myself, am not the biggest fan of summer. Especially the sticky-hot Little Rock ones. The just -opened-400 degree-hot-oven feeling when you unlock your black car and sit down in a parking lot with a black top that actually singes my nose hairs a little bit, I don't at all miss. What's awesome, is that our other black car built in good ole 1998 has no air conditioning. My husband drives it to work daily. I drive it when he needs the car seats for the boys. Well, Vern the Volvo... that's just one big party to ride in. Oh, and it's leather, so you get to wipe the sweaty imprint of your thighs off the seat when you exit.

MY summer's saving grace is this: give me a warm vine-ripe tomato, nectarine, peach, ear of corn, okra, blueberry, purple hull pea, cantaloupe, new potato, snap pea, watermelon, squash, zucchini ANYTHING, and it pretty much makes summer worth it to me. I am very lucky because my best friend dates a guy who has peach orchards in the family and my neighbor grows tomatoes. I trust the grocery store for the rest. And after I check out, I get to ride home with my summer goodness in my hot-nasty black car.
