Sweet Dee

I cannot believe that I received a text message from my mom last week. She has never sent an e-mail in her life. She doesn't even have call-waiting on her land-line, much less caller ID. She finally got a cell phone a couple years ago that had pre-paid minutes so she could call us long-distance. However, it was the joke of all cell phones. She couldn't see who was calling her and she didn't even have voice-mail. So, if you called her and actually spoke to her it was like you had just won a Coke Icee at the old Jackpot gas station on Rodney Parham.

What was even crazier is that after the text, I got a text with a picture of her and my brother. Obviously, he had helped her because I could see both their faces. Last night my sweet Dee texted me that she just voted for David Cook on American Idol on her new cell phone. First of all, PROPS for voting for the lesser of two evils, Mom! Seriously though, my mom just voted for someone on American Idol. I'm a little afraid of what is in my future now. Thought I'd share it with the world.

I haven't thought of the old Jackpot in years. Thanks for the memory! I have to admit, I was always a little worried about being robbed at gun point while getting gas for my blazer. :)
