I Like to Hide, Sometimes

Sometimes, I just do not like to be found. That may sound strange, but, I don't. This weird tendency of mine goes back for years and years.

There were times in college where I would sneak away from my dorm to my great uncle Sonny's house behind the stadium, and make a fire and cookies and sit there. No one knew the number there and I didn't have a cell phone back then. It was great to get away from the dorm and just sit.

I hated hearing the sound of flip-flops and shower caddy's making the trip to the shower. I hated the sound of the industrial toilet flush. I probably hated those sounds even more after a girl on my floor confessed that she would pee in the showers (don't worry, I always wore shower shoes).

Until I became dependent upon one, I didn't have a cell phone for years. The thought of someone being able to call me anywhere felt kind of like an invasion of privacy, or something. Now, I never leave home without it. Maybe falling in love changes that. You want to be found then. Being a mother changes that too. Sometimes, as a mother, you still don't want to be found, but you have to be and you get over it.

What if the alarm goes off and they try and call?
The only babies I have are my sculptures, which I make. But for some reason they never seem to call.
Oh well.
