Y'all Want To See Somethin' Crazy?

Okay, so we went to an orthopedist here in NW Arkansas today and they took x-rays again to see how Wyatt's leg is doing. Here is his fracture SET. Can you even imagine what this femur looked like before they set it? Gag. There is a 3 cm gap between his bones, which is acceptable for a complete heal, today's doc said. The doctor said his bones would form almost a cocoon around the break that would even and smooth out as he grows. He said it was a bad break for a two-year-old, but, has every reason to believe it will heal without complication. Word. That is good news.

I am a little bummed because the doc's at Children's said he could be healed as quickly as 2-4 weeks. Sounds crazy fast, huh? Well, the doctor today thought so too. He said if it was his child he wouldn't take it off a day before four weeks and maybe even six weeks. So, I'm with him. It'll be a challenge for all of us, but, especially for Wyatt. I don't want that cast off a second sooner than his little leg needs for complete healing.

So, there's an update. All is well.

Wow.

Have you gone up to FAC to have your little "chat" yet? Could you please hide a tape recorder in your pocket when you do because I REALLY want to hear the exchange.

No. They've called me and Christian both and have been really kind, asking about Wyatt, if they could coordinate meals, etc. I mean, I'm super frustrated my baby has a broken leg and no one can tell us how it happened. However, what can we do, ya know?

I know the gym has insurance. So do we. So, hopefully that will help out. Christian's talked to them about that and is waiting to hear back. That's why they have insurance and that's why we have it. Awful stuff like this happens. We shall see.

P.S. Sarah, it's illegal to tape a conversation without the other person's consent ... I've done some checking.

Wow. Wow. I'm so sorry, but also thankful you've got encouraging doc news.

Oh Milton. I wish I could fast forward 6 weeks for you. I can't believe that break. Praying it will fully heal very soon. Thank you so much for updating. Wyatt has been on my mind so much. Even Annika came over today and looked at the pictures. As soon as she walked over she was really worried and said, "Oh, is that Wyatt?" We looked at the pics 3 or 4 times. Poor little thing. When you get a chance next time you update, will you say a little about what he can do. It may be silly, but can he walk at all. I know if you move one leg, it moves the other leg's femur, so I am guessing not. Can he bend at all or is he totally straight? Praying for you- for strength and patience for those long days. Ok, well, have a good night. I am sure you guys are still exhausted. Hope you can get caught up on sleep. We will keep praying for all of you!

We've all heard the term, "can't catch a break". And I am not trying to be punny... I heard that TCV may have the dreaded STREP. Blah! Like you need one more thing to deal with. Elizabeth, I am so sorry, these are really tough times. Wish I could be closer so my offer of help would be useful.

I do have a question for you regarding the day care... I have heard that any child care that has an incident of injury is subject to investigation by DHS. Do you know this to be true? Will this apply here? I am very curious.

Lynn, I believe that's true for any femur break that happens in the home. Since Wyatt broke his in public, I don't think they'll investigate, however, if DHS wanted to in this case, I'd be ALL for it.

Heading to the doc now to get T all checked out.

Kate, I will try to update soon with what Wyatt can do. It will be a short post, poor guy. Annika is a SWEETIE!

Can't thank you all enough for your support and concern.
