Healthy Attachment?

Thomas' first experience with Mother's Day Out was last year at two-and-a-half-years-old. He absolutely loved it. Not one tear was shed at departure time. He was all skips and hops to meet his teacher, frolicking to play with cars, making friends right and left while stopping to get to know the water fountain intimately.

With this response to his first day, a mother might think, I am awesome! He is independent and full of confidence. He is going to lick this. Or, a mother might think, My kid is cold, has attachment issues and is it too early to start counseling? He doesn't miss me at all! Should I start watching to see how he plays with animals?

So, with number two starting MDO an entire year earlier than his older brother, I thought it would be an interesting case study of sorts. What would Wyatt do? He was the third child do be dropped off to his classroom of which he is the youngest! (he is 14 mos. and most are 18 mos.) Will he cry? Won't he? Will he reach for me with anguish and alligator tears? Will he go straight to the puzzle and sluff me?

Take one look at this picture and you tell me?

P.S. The two other normal kids already in his classroom were bawling their eyes out. Sweet.
